NYSC Organizes Financial Literacy Seminar for Mass Communication Students at Kaduna Polytechnic
Empowering Students with Financial Wisdom
In a bold move to promote financial awareness among young people, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving at Kaduna Polytechnic have launched a financial inclusion initiative tailored specifically for students.
Spearheaded through the Department of Mass Communication, the program aimed to equip students with essential personal finance skills—tools often overlooked in traditional academic settings but crucial for real-life success.
Practical Lessons on Managing Money
The seminar tackled key topics including budgeting, savings, smart investments, debt control, and how to avoid common financial traps. The response from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the session as both timely and impactful.
Renowned financial expert Malam Sanusi Buhari shared actionable insights on managing money wisely, while Dr. Bashir Hadi Ashara emphasized the long-term advantages of developing financial literacy early in life—especially during the transition from campus to career.
A Youth-Led Effort for Lasting Change
Driven by a strong sense of duty and community service, the corps members created a warm and interactive environment that encouraged active participation. Their initiative stands as a powerful example of youth-led development and the positive impact NYSC members can make within academic communities.
Beyond Awareness: Building a Culture of Responsibility
This initiative didn’t just stop at raising awareness. It also provided students with practical tools to make informed financial decisions, ultimately preparing them for a future of financial independence. The program is part of a broader campaign to foster financial literacy among youths across Kaduna State, with NYSC members playing a leading role.
By bridging the knowledge gap in personal finance, this seminar is expected to plant the seeds of a more financially responsible generation.
